The Women's Center of East Texas (WCET) in Longview provides family violence and sexual assault services in a six county area. During the winter storm, the family violence shelter was badly damaged by flooding, including a ceiling collapse. The facility is uninhabitable and the extensive damage has required WCET to relocate all adults and children in immediate danger of family violence to a secure location, where services continue. Funding is needed to assist in covering expenses not covered by insurance including the replacement of furniture/office items and additional costs for labor and storage to move out and back into their shelter. Your support relieves the financial burden that WCET faces in rebuilding their family violence shelter so they can stay focused on supporting the needs of their clients.
The Crisis Center of Anderson & Cherokee Counties provides essential services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse across two rural counties of East Texas, spanning more than 2,000 square miles. As a result, one of their shelters experienced flooding due to a frozen pipe which burst inside the wall of the building. Given the size of their service area, it's critical to have operational shelters in multiple locations. Your support will help Crisis Center of Anderson and Cherokee Counties in all of the communities they serve.
